Abstract:
Opioid dependence is a common phenomenon faced by the Republic of Moldova and many countries around the world. Today there are around 800 000 methadone users worldwide that reduce the desire to use heroin and other opiates, eliminate opiate withdrawal symptoms and block the euphoric effects of other opioid drugs. Methadone treatment results indicate reduced injecting drug use, reducing overdose mortality among drug addicts, rehabilitation and social adaptation of beneficiaries, increasing the quality of life of beneficiaries and their families, turning drug users into a socially assisted individual and medical.
