Abstract:
This article discusses a number of aspects of the problem of using the literary text in the process of teaching and learning foreign languages at the universities of the Republic of Moldova. The low level of reading, including the one in different foreign languages, creates a series of gaps in the training of the glottodidactic specialist and generates a series of challenges to which the university professor must respond. The study is a plea for more insistent use of literary works (especially at levels B1, B2, C1) in the process of training the foreign language teachers, not only regarding the literary skills, but also the linguistic competences and the (inter)cultural ones as well.
