Abstract:
The formation of research competence is a fundamental element in contemporary didactics. Practical skills to discover information and moral attitudes of students ensure the formation of a personality that would correspond to current living conditions and would argue the contemporary educational ideal. All sciences are involved in this process through its specific methods. It is important to emphasize especially the role of historical disciplines, because through its complex and interdisciplinary nature, history contributes to the development of knowledge in all spheres of social existence. The formation of research competence through autonomous learning skills, critical analysis of historical facts and phenomena directly influences the democratic values in society, freedom to express opinions about the causes and consequences of historical processes and phenomena.
