Ansamblul Catedralei Mitropolitane din Chişinău în pictură

Abstract

This study presents an analysis of the Ensemble of Chisinau Metropolitan Cathedral in fine arts, starting from its first appearances in engraving, mostly made by foreign artists, nonetheless the topic was also addressed by artists from the Republic of Moldova. Famous painters such as Eugenia Gamburd, Gheorghe Munteanu, Petru Jireghea, Arcadie Antoseac, Vasile Movileanu, Veaceslav Ignatenco, Leonid Popescu, Gheorghe Oprea, Liviu Hâncu, Galina Cantor-Molotov and others have painted in various techniques the panoramic landscape of the Architectural Ensemble or they have illustrated genre painting around it. Through these paintings, the artists want to emphasize once more about the Christian roots of the nation, specifically about the national identity.
