dc.description.abstract Studies carried out by Holmes et al. [9], Jungmann (geb. Görgen) et al. [11]; Schacter et al. [20], Sloman [21] indicated that guided mental imagery interventions play an extremely important role in the therapy of depressive disorders, by inducing positive affective states, much stronger than the simple use of words. Thus, in the case of depression, attention is predominantly focused on the negative aspects of life, negative self-perception, lack of hope, low self-esteem, loss of interest. This study aims to analyse the literature on the effect of guided imagery interventions on depressive disorders and on the level of self-esteem. The results of this analysis indicate a decrease in the perceived level of depression and an increase level of self-esteem as a result of the use of guided mental imagery. en_US
