dc.description.abstract Alcohol consumption has taken the form of a social phenomenon in the world, the population most exposed to this risky behavior being adolescents and young people. Studies and research conducted internationally show that in recent years the age of onset of experimental alcohol consumption has decreased. In all regions of the globe, more than a quarter (26.5% or 155 million) of adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19 consume alcohol. Episodic excessive alcohol consumption is lower among adolescents than in the general population, so that at the age of 20-24 to register an alarming increase, especially in males. Alcohol consumption at parties is often accompanied by the use of recreational drugs, increasing the risks of negative consequences. Globally, the annual alcohol consumption is 6.3 liters of pure alcohol / person aged 15 and over, Europe is the region with the highest level of consumption, followed by the Americas, China, some African countries, Southeast Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean region. (WHO, 2016) Protecting young people, children and unborn children is the first of the five priority areas of intervention of the Global Strategy on Combating the Effects of Harmful Alcohol Consumption in the Member States and one of the objectives of the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy. en_US
