Ion Varta – neobosit cercetător şi dascăl al viitorilor istorici

Abstract

The name of the historian Ion Varta is known not only in among colleagues of profession in the Republic of Moldova, but also in all the Romanian space and even beyond it by virtue of the enormous contribution he has made to the altar of historical truth regarding the history of Romanians in the contemporary period. Ion Varta's name is known to teachers and high school students, because in the history textbooks from which they were inspired, this slave of truth and debt called historian Ion Varta worked with great courage and responsibility. Not being in-different to the tendentious and speculative interpretations of several crucial events in the history of the nation, he was merciless and determined to bring out the truth in the sight of all. For these reasons, he also launched himself in the po-litical life, becoming a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 2005-2009. From the Parliament's rostrum and the scientific forums, he opted for the purification of history from the remnants of totalitarian ideology. Ion Varta is the author of over 160 scientific publications, including 4 monographs, 7 docu-ment collections, 8 secondary and high school textbooks, 45 publications abroad.
