Jakov Mihailovich Kopanskij

Abstract

Jakov Mihajlovich Kopanskij, doctor habilitatus in history, professor (uni-versity professor), was born in March 22, 1930, in Causani town. During the pe-riod of 1949-1954, he was a student of the history department of Chisinau State University. In 1956, he entered the Institute of history of the Academy of Sciences of MSSR as a researcher. In 1961-1964, he become the academic secretary of Hu-manity Department. In 1962, he received a PhD (doctor in history) degree; the next degree, doctor habilitatus in history was achieved by Ja. Kopanskij in 1977. Since 1964, he worked as a senior researcher, since 1986 – as a leader researcher. In 1987 (and up to the 1991) he become a head of a department in the Institute of history. Starting from 1992, he worked in the Department of Jewish history and culture of the Institute of Interethnic relations studies of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (1992-1993 – leader researcher; 1993-2006 – head researcher (1994-2006 – the head of the Department)). Besides, during the period 1977-1990, he was a lecturer of World history Chair in the Chisinau State Pedagogy University “Ion Creanga”; since 1985, he achieved a professor title in the University. Dr. Kopanskij is the author of 275 scientific and educational papers and books, in-cluding 14 monographs (he was co-writer in four of them).
