dc.description.abstract	The article traces the composition of the population of the Republic of Moldova throughout all historical epochs, provides statistical data on the main ethnic composition of the republic at the present stage. The author shows that the free development of cultures of various peoples in a given territory has long traditions. This contributes, on the one hand, to the enrichment of the common spiritual and cultural heritage of the Moldavian people, and, on the other hand, to preserve the traditional culture and its distinctive elements for each of the ethnic groups.	en_US
