Abstract:
The author refers to the last tale of A.S. Pushkin. "Tale of the Golden Cockerel". It reveals that the basis of the tale is the Spanish legend about an Arab astrologer. Legend was heard by the American writer Washington Irving, when he was in the city of Granada at the Alhambra Palace. This legend served as a source of Pushkin's fairy tale. The article presents a comparative analysis of legend and fairy tale, to identify common and distinctive features.
