Abstract:
The article focuses on the bivalence of the didactic term for "retelling" in Romanian (expunere) by examining ways in which the teacher may construct an efficient lesson through covering, together with the students, the distance between narration as a teaching method and narration/retelling as a form of assessable output, either written or spoken. We examine the combination possibilities of various teaching strategies, comment upon opportunities for the use of retelling in formative and summative assessment, and correlate retelling to the demands and standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
