Abstract:
Explanatory dictionaries have informative, communicative and normative functions. The informative function is that the dictionary informs us about the existence of lexical units in language, but also about meaning, paradigmatic and syntagmatic, its origin etc., the communicative function is achieved by the use of words examples value in different contexts, confirming the existence and functioning of the word in language, and the normative function is performed by the amount of usage examples of words in different contexts, confirming the existence and functioning of the word in the language.
