Abstract:
The paper aims to highlight the similarities and differences between two political and economic structure, where the last one, ie the Soviet empire, has completed its official existence in 1991, when the EU was preparing its spatial-geographical expansion, encompassing new member-states, including former allies of the Soviet empire in Eastern Europe. The emergence, development and expansion of these two geopolitical and geoeconomic entities occurs under different conditions based on liberal models and doctrines for the EU and dictatorial, state planning for ex-USSR
