Abstract:
The result of this research has been oriented towards the elucidation of some errors and existing in exactitudes in the biography description of the first woman composer from Bessarabia – Cleopatra Hrșanovskaia.
This Bessarabian talented intellectual remains unknown to the public from the Republic of Moldova, her name being often omitted, either because of ignorance, or because of the incognizance of her value in autochthonous encyclopaedias published during the last decades.
In the present article, I tried to investigate the errors in the existing publications regarding the personality of C. Hrșanovskaia, as well as to determine the role and importance of this representative of the Bessarabian elite in the local culture promotion at the beginning of the 20th century, through her musical works, but also from the perspective of her being the foundress of the first private musical school from Bessarabia. The biography research allowed me to find several historical dates which supplement and re-establish the unknown destiny of an outstanding noblewoman from Bessarabia who, at her time, succeeded to impress and manifest herself in her sphere of activity, being an excellent musician, a special singer, pedagogue and expert in vocal music, as well as a talented composer. The biography of Cleopatra Hrșanovski deserves to be researched in detail in order to supplement it with currently unknown aspects and mysteries concerning her forgotten destiny
