Abstract:
Doctoral theses are an important source of scientific information, playing a major role in supporting research by providing original results, in-depth analysis and innovative approaches. They contribute to the development of knowledge, being useful to researchers, doctoral students and practitioners. In the field of economic sciences, these works are particularly valuable for understanding economic phenomena, substantiating decisions and elaborating development policies. The present paper aims to highlight the importance of doctoral theses as an infodocumentary resource, to explore the main databases and collections that provide access to these works, as well as to analyze the repertoire of theses in economic sciences defended in the Republic of Moldova in the last two decades. Proposals are formulated to improve the visibility and access to these resources through university libraries. Doctoral theses are an important component of library collections. Their accessibility and valorization are determining factors for the progress of knowledge. Their integration into modern academic information systems is today a necessity for the research community.
