Abstract:
This article analyzes the evolution of the Romanian educational system and the impact of competency assessment on the teaching process, with a focus on primary education. The study highlights the need for a modern approach to evaluation, integrating digital technologies to support student learning. The research employs theoretical and experimental methods to measure the mathematical competencies of fourth-grade students, revealing significant difficulties in understanding and applying mathematical concepts. The experiment, conducted on a sample of 151 students, found that over 80% of them demonstrated medium or low competency levels. The initial test analysis indicated that students face greater challenges at higher cognitive levels, such as analyzing and applying mathematical concepts. In this context, the authors propose implementing innovative teaching strategies, using digital assessment to improve results and stimulate students' critical thinking. The study concludes that integrating digital technologies into the assessment of mathematical competencies is essential for adapting the educational system to the demands of modern society and enhancing student performance.
