Abstract:
The article argues that the current crisis conditions, the destruction of critical infrastructure, environmental shocks caused by military actions, and the lack of political will have led to the fact that sustainable development has not become a priority direction of the state policy of Ukraine. The policy’s implementation is hindered by economic instability, insufficient regulatory framework, and limited potential of the national education system. It has been proposed to direct educational activities in the future to: organizing and holding international scientific and practical conferences, round tables, scientific and methodological seminars with the involvement of European universities, public organizations, and interested parties on the issues of education for sustainable development; developing a working curriculum, educational and methodological complex, and a textbook «Environmental Education» and its implementation in the educational process; writing a monograph «Education for Sustainable Development in the EU: Prospects and Challenges for Ukraine»; popularization of the principles of sustainable development by posting information and materials on the information portals of institutions of European and national partner universities and Internet resources; organization of scientific and theoretical discussions, public discussions, etc.
