Abstract:
It is known that the process of teaching the Romanian language in school, in secondary education, helps to form an ability to select great values, contributing to the development of creativity, the spirit of observation, imagination, but also critical thinking. At the same time, it supports the cultivation of their willingness to collaborate with peers, to build effective interpersonal relationships, on various levels of activity. Also, the study of the verb helps to develop a correct expression, both orally and in writing, being one of the wishes of the Romanian school of all times. In the current context, there is a lot of discussion about the changes that are imposed or proposed in the Romanian school. This is perhaps a good opportunity to argue that, for the formation of students, their future and their culture, it is necessary to study this lexical grammatical category in depth. The need to study the verb in secondary school can be proven simply, through several arguments. Certainly, if we did not insist on this lexical-grammatical category, the number of those who disagree between the subject and the predicate would increase. Such serious errors are so common in exams, on Facebook, in SMS, applications, cover letters, etc. Therefore, correct writing and speaking presupposes the knowledge and application of the fundamental concepts of grammar.
