Abstract:
Since change is a part of our lives today, education is no exception to this constant endeavor. Concerns related to the improvement of the Romanian education system and its alignment with European and international standards have been amplified by the need to prepare students for an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing labor market. As the needs of modern society have evolved, the concern for updating has emphasized the development of skills relevant to the labor market and to life in society. The reform approach focused on relevant aspects, such as:
- updating the school curriculum to include transversal skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication, teamwork;
- the implementation of teaching and asses sment methods that promote the development of practical skills and life skills;
- promoting non-formal education and lifelong learning to meet the changing needs of society and the economy.
The transition in the Romanian education system was a process, which involved curricular reforms, alignment with European standards, adapting the vision of education and a investment in teacher training. This transition continues to be an evolving process, with the aim of ensuring that the education system meets the needs and demands of contemporary society.
