Abstract:
As a result of the investigations of the algal communities in the Bîc river (from the Chisinau area), 253 species and varieties of algae were identified, producing a biomass from 60 g/m2 to 2-3 kg/m2. Bacilariophytes develop intensively in the autumn-winter-spring period, chlorophytes – spring-summer-autumn, and cyanoprokaryotes and euglenophytes - summer and autumn. Species from the Dinophyta and Xanthophyta phyla are rarely found in the benthic communities of the river. Under the conditions of high concentrations of nutrients and high temperatures, the rapid multiplication of algae species from the genera Anabaena, Aphanizomenon, Oscillatoria, Microcystis, Euglena etc. occurs, which sometimes causes the phenomenon of "blooming" of the water.
